How would you feel if you walked into a store, purchased some chicken
salad, went on a picnic, and had a seizure due to the fact that the chicken salad contained walnuts. Approximately $12,000 has been spent on this actual claim which occurred in California. It does, however, point out the severity of improper labeling. If this product had been properly labeled, the store would never have had a serious claim. Please check your labeling, for you and your customer's sake.
As we all know, we are in an extremely litigious climate. Fortunately these

I'm sure that as many of you have entered the area, the issue of
liability has taken a back seat to profits. Keep in mind, you now have put a product on your shelf that "technically" has your name on it as the manufacturer. |

The safest way to insure your exposure for this is to have a
Certificate of Insurance, naming your company as an additional insured, issued by the packager of the product. Most companies will gladly oblige this request to keep their customer happy. |
